Firstly, we would like to thank you for your commitment to attending all the meetings of the Citizens’ Assembly on Drugs Use. Your civic contribution will have a meaningful impact on an issue that affects individuals, families, and communities across the country.

Citizens’ assemblies have become a valuable part of Ireland’s democratic system. As one of the 99 members of the Assembly, you will be asked to carefully consider a range of other views, examine reports and studies, consider experiences in other countries, hear from experts in their fields, as well as hearing the lived experiences of ordinary people affected by drugs use in Ireland. Recommendations from the Citizens’ Assembly can considerably influence changes to policy, legislation and even the Constitution.
