Citizens’ Assembly on Gender Equality

Online Meeting: 17 – 18 April 2021

The focus of the final weekend meeting was on agreeing the draft ballot paper and voting. To note, in order to organise discussion sessions the ballot paper was broke into blocs as outlined below. Some blocs were agreed on Saturday and others on Sunday. E-voting also took place on both days.

Process to develop ballot paper

In order to develop the ballot paper members were sent a draft ballot paper on Gender Equality Principles, Leadership, Education and Norms before the meeting in a survey. They were asked to provide feedback on these recommendations and also had the opportunity to table further recommendations they wished to be included.

From these responses, the ballot paper was revised. View the changes to the ballot paper at this stage.  The Chair explained these changes below:


Members were sent this revised ballot paper in advance of the April meeting. Members were then given the opportunity to discuss the ballot paper in Blocs on Saturday 17 April and provide feedback to the Assembly. Feedback was communicated through the facilitator on each table.

You can view the changes to the Ballot paper during this session. At the end of the discussions, members were polled if they wanted these changes on the ballot paper and to agree the ballot paper.

The process to develop ballot paper

In order to develop the ballot paper members were sent a draft ballot paper on Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based violence, Pay and Working Conditions, Social protection & Pensions in a survey before the meeting. They were asked to provide feedback on these draft recommendations and also had the opportunity to table further recommendations they wished to be included. From these responses, the ballot paper was revised.
